Gilbert E. LeVasseur, Jr.

Chairman, CEO and Managing Partner

 

Gilbert E. LeVasseur, Jr. serves as chairman, CEO and managing partner of LeVasseur Capital Partners LLC. He formulated the firm’s investment strategy during his years as a private investor, turnaround specialist, business owner, public company executive and securities analyst.

 

Prior to founding his investment management firm in 1998, Mr. LeVasseur served as partner with Whitehead Associates, Inc. Venture Partnership and simultaneously acquired a database publishing firm, which he developed and later sold to The Thomson Corporation in 1990. Prior to that, he built a specialty publishing business, which he later sold to American Broadcasting Companies (ABC). He subsequently served as senior vice president of ABC, where he led key acquisitions that formed the core of the company’s then-new $250 million publishing division. Earlier in his career, Mr. LeVasseur held positions including board director, principal shareholder and division president of CHC Corporation, a publicly traded company with interests in nursing homes and specialty publishing; mergers and acquisitions specialist at International Chemical and Nuclear Company; and analyst with American Investment Counseling Company. Mr. LeVasseur currently serves as a director and audit committee chair for a large privately held consumer products company.

 

Mr. LeVasseur has served as president of the Laguna Art Museum and was instrumental in founding the Orange County Museum of Art, where he is director emeritus of the board. He currently serves on the board of the Simon Foundation for Education and Housing in Newport Beach, CA. In 2015, Mr. LeVasseur received the prestigious Horatio Alger Award, which is given annually to successful leaders who overcame adversity, and who are committed to philanthropy and higher education. He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. degree in finance and received his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Southern California.

Kevin E. Walden, CFA

Partner and Analyst

 

Kevin E. Walden joined LeVasseur Capital Partners LLC in 2008. He serves as partner and analyst, performing fundamental research and due diligence on prospective portfolio companies, engaging in idea generation and assisting in investment decision-making as a member of the investment team. Mr. Walden’s direct investment experience spans more than fifteen years, beginning as an analyst at Merchants Group, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, where he developed financial analysis skills and worked with portfolio companies to enhance their business strategy. Subsequently, he sourced, analyzed and monitored public companies as an analyst at DCLA, a New York-based investment firm that managed over two billion dollars for institutions and private clients.

 

Mr. Walden is a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University, where his studies included a semester at the London School of Economics.

Carl E. Spangler, Jr.

Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Partner

 

Carl E. Spangler, Jr. joined LeVasseur Capital Partners LLC in 2006 and serves as chief financial officer, chief compliance officer and partner. He manages the firm’s finance, accounting, and administrative functions and, as a member of the investment team, performs research and due diligence and participates in investment decision-making. Mr. Spangler was previously CFO of Innovate Partners, a venture capital firm, where he led all financial functions of the firm, as well as due diligence and financial management of portfolio companies. Mr. Spangler’s prior experience includes roles as CFO and general manager of Interworks, a subsidiary of publicly traded Sanmina-SCI Corp.; corporate controller for a large retail and wholesale clothing distributor; senior associate in the business assurance and financial advisory service practices at Coopers & Lybrand; and senior bond underwriter at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies and Aetna Casualty & Surety Company.

 

Mr. Spangler is a summa cum laude graduate of York College of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management. Mr. Spangler is a licensed California Certified Public Accountant currently on inactive status. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is Series 65 qualified.
