Gilbert E. LeVasseur, Jr.
Chairman, CEO and Managing Partner
Gilbert E. LeVasseur, Jr. serves as chairman, CEO and managing partner of LeVasseur Capital Partners LLC. He formulated the firm’s investment strategy during his years as a private investor, turnaround specialist, business owner, public company executive and securities analyst.
Prior to founding his investment management firm in 1998, Mr. LeVasseur served as partner with Whitehead Associates, Inc. Venture Partnership and simultaneously acquired a database publishing firm, which he developed and later sold to The Thomson Corporation in 1990. Prior to that, he built a specialty publishing business, which he later sold to American Broadcasting Companies (ABC). He subsequently served as senior vice president of ABC, where he led key acquisitions that formed the core of the company’s then-new $250 million publishing division. Earlier in his career, Mr. LeVasseur held positions including board director, principal shareholder and division president of CHC Corporation, a publicly traded company with interests in nursing homes and specialty publishing; mergers and acquisitions specialist at International Chemical and Nuclear Company; and analyst with American Investment Counseling Company. Mr. LeVasseur currently serves as a director and audit committee chair for a large privately held consumer products company.
Mr. LeVasseur has served as president of the Laguna Art Museum and was instrumental in founding the Orange County Museum of Art, where he is director emeritus of the board. He currently serves on the board of the Simon Foundation for Education and Housing in Newport Beach, CA. In 2015, Mr. LeVasseur received the prestigious Horatio Alger Award, which is given annually to successful leaders who overcame adversity, and who are committed to philanthropy and higher education. He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. degree in finance and received his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Southern California.
